CATEGORY: Decadence is CATEGORY's New Year's Eve party in Los Angeles, a queer house and techno night at The Belasco in Downtown LA on Thursday, December 31, 2026. Doors open at 8PM and the dance floor runs until 3AM. Velvet and gold, champagne and sequins, a night where more is more and too much is just enough.
CATEGORY is a monthly queer dance party in Downtown Los Angeles, and Decadence is Vol. 004. This New Year's Eve, CATEGORY brings the elegant spirit of Studio 54 to the West Coast for one night across two floors of The Belasco, a 1926 theater in DTLA's South Park and a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
Two stages, 10 DJs. Upstairs, the Main Stage runs ballroom-driven disco-house from doors to close, led by New York's The Carry Nation. Downstairs, The Chamber takes the tempo up with darker house and techno from Chris Cruse, Juliet Mendoza, and Soul Purpose. Every CATEGORY lineup is 100% femme, BIPOC, gender expansive, and/or queer-identifying. That's our booking policy, not a talking point.
Decadence isn't a dress code. It's an invitation. Sequins, feathers, satin, gold: dress like the clock doesn't matter, because tonight it doesn't. Our resident editorial photographer shoots looks all night, so arrive early. The first to serve is the first snapped.
Whether you're coming from WeHo, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Hollywood, or around the corner in DTLA, this is a queer New Year's Eve in Los Angeles built for the whole community. All are welcome, no matter what CATEGORY you fall into. 21+ with valid ID. Tickets are on sale now via Universe.

Getting to The Belasco
The Belasco is at 1050 S Hill St, on the corner of 11th and Hill in Downtown LA's South Park neighborhood. Built in 1926, it's a gilded theater with two stages across two floors, a mezzanine, and lounges.
Metro: The Belasco is a short walk from LA Metro's B/D Line (Pershing Square and 7th St/Metro Center stations). Check metro.net for New Year's Eve service hours before you go.
Parking: The Belasco doesn't operate its own lot. Public lots and garages line Hill St and the surrounding blocks, and The Belasco partners with ParkWhiz for advance booking. Expect New Year's Eve demand downtown, so book ahead. Metered street parking on 11th and Hill has strict time limits.
Rideshare: Rideshare is the easiest way in and out on New Year's Eve. Set your drop-off to The Belasco, 1050 S Hill St, and expect surge pricing after midnight.

Is CATEGORY: Decadence queer-friendly?
It's a queer party, built by and for the community. CATEGORY is a queer safe space, and every lineup is 100% femme, BIPOC, gender expansive, and/or queer-identifying. All are welcome, no matter what CATEGORY you fall into, unless you're standing in the way of someone else being exactly who they are. Harm reduction personnel are onsite, and staff in blue wristbands are there if you need help.
What time does it start and end?
Doors open at 8PM on December 31, and the party runs until 3AM on January 1. There's no re-entry, so once you leave, you're out for the night. Coat check is available. Times can change, so check this page before you head out.
Is it 21+?
Yes. CATEGORY: Decadence is 21+, and every guest needs a valid government-issued photo ID at the door. No exceptions.
What should I wear?
Decadence isn't a dress code. It's an invitation. Velvet, gold, sequins, feathers, satin, and champagne shimmer. There's no wrong way to ring in the new year, only your way.
What ticket tiers are there?
General Admission (presale, Tier 1, and a buy-5-get-1-free group bundle) and VIP, which includes private expedited entry, the VIP Lounge, restrooms and bar, and mezzanine access with prime Mainstage viewing. Table service and Opera Boxes are coming soon. Tickets start at $30 on Universe.
Can I get a refund?
All ticket sales are final. No refunds or exchanges, with one exception:
- If we cancel an event outright with no new date, you get a full refund, automatically, to the card you paid with. You don't need to do anything.
Tickets are not refunded for:
- A change of plans, the weather, arriving late, or leaving early
- Lineup changes, including headliners, or changes to the time or venue
- A postponement. Your ticket is honored on the new date.
- Being refused entry without valid 21+ government-issued photo ID, or with a fraudulent or altered ticket
- Being removed for breaking the house rules, the law, or venue policy
- A ticket cancelled for resale above face value or outside Universe
- A ticket bought from anyone other than Universe or its official resale tool

Is The Belasco accessible?
The Belasco has ADA ramp access into the building, ADA restrooms, and an ADA area on the main floor; each ADA guest may bring one companion into that area. The building has no elevator, so the mezzanine (including the VIP area) is reached by stairs. For ADA support and accommodations, email [email protected] before the event.
